Overview

This article walks you through updating the Solution Area and Solution Play picklist values for the Labra Referral object in Salesforce to support the latest Microsoft Co-selling taxonomy. It also covers configuring the field dependency between the two fields.

Estimated Time: 15-20 minutes.

Prerequisites

• Salesforce System Administrator access
• Permission to modify custom objects and picklist values

Step 1: Update the Solution Area Picklist

Navigate to the Solution Area field

1. In Salesforce, click Setup (⚙️).
2. Navigate to Object Manager.
3. Search for and open Labra Referral.
4. Select Fields & Relationships.
5. Open the Solution Area field.

Add new Solution Area values

Click New and add the following values:

• AI Business Solutions
• Cloud and AI Platforms
• Microsoft Unified

Assign all three values to both:

• AWS Record Type
• Microsoft Record Type

Click Save.

Deactivate outdated values

Return to the Solution Area picklist values.

Deactivate all existing values except:

• AI Business Solutions
• Cloud and AI Platforms
• Microsoft Unified
• Security

Step 2: Update the Solution Play Picklist

Navigate to the Solution Play field

1. Open Object Manager.
2. Open Labra Referral.
3. Navigate to Fields & Relationships.
4. Open the Solution Play field.

Deactivate outdated Solution Plays

Deactivate all Solution Play values except:

• Converged Communications
• Data Security

Add the new Solution Play values

Click New and add the following values:

• AI Ready with Surface Copilot PCs
• Copilot and Agents at Work
• Drive Cloud Success through Unified with Enhanced Solutions
• ERP Transformation with AI
• Innovate with Azure AI Apps and Agents
• Innovate with Low Code AI and Agents
• Migrate and Modernize Your Estate
• Modern SecOps with Unified Platform
• Protect Cloud AI Platform and Apps
• Scale Business Operations with AI
• Scale with Cloud and AI Endpoints
• Sales Transformation with AI
• Secure AI Productivity
• Service Transformation with AI
• Unify Your Data Platform

Assign all values to both:

• AWS Record Type
• Microsoft Record Type

Click Save.

Step 3: Configure Field Dependencies

To ensure users only see the appropriate Solution Play values based on the selected Solution Area, configure the field dependency.

Navigate to Field Dependencies

1. In Object Manager, open the Labra Referral object.
2. Go to Fields & Relationships.
3. Under Field Dependencies, click Edit next to Solution Area.
   (See Screenshot below for reference)
4. In the dependency matrix, for each Solution Area value:
   1. Select the relevant Solution Play picklist values (as per the list below).
   2. After selecting, click on “Include Values” to add them.

For each Solution Area, include the following Solution Play values.

Save Your Changes

After configuring the mappings:

1. Click Include Values for each Solution Area.
2. Verify the dependency matrix.
3. Click Save to apply the field dependency configuration.

Verification Checklist

After completing the configuration, verify the following:

✅ Only four Solution Area values remain active.

✅ New Solution Play values have been added successfully.

✅ All values are assigned to both AWS and Microsoft record types.

✅ Field dependencies are configured correctly.

✅ Users only see valid Solution Play options based on the selected Solution Area.

✅ Changes have been saved and are available for testing.
