Generative AI (GenAI) solutions are becoming an increasingly important category within the AWS ecosystem. As more partners build offerings leveraging AI/ML services, properly identifying these opportunities is critical for visibility, reporting, and alignment with AWS initiatives.
At this time, AWS does not include a dedicated field to explicitly flag an opportunity as “GenAI.” Until a structured field is introduced, AWS relies on a combination of signals within the referral submission and solution metadata to identify and tag Co-sell opportunities as GenAI.
To ensure GenAI opportunities are properly recognized, please follow the interim best practices below.
Best Practices to Ensure GenAI Opportunities Are Identified
1. Select the Relevant AWS Product(s)
When creating the referral, ensure that the AWS Product field is completed by selecting the AWS services used to build the solution (for example, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker, etc.).
Although this field is optional during referral creation, AWS strongly recommends populating it for GenAI-related opportunities, as it provides a structured signal about the technologies used.
Recommendation:
Set default AWS Product values within your mapping templates so that when a template is selected, the relevant AWS products are automatically populated. This helps improve consistency and reduces manual effort.
2. Explicitly Mention “GenAI” in the Referral Description Field
The Referral Description field should clearly state that the solution involves Generative AI capabilities.
Explicitly mentioning “GenAI” helps AWS reviewers quickly understand the nature of the opportunity and increases the likelihood that the opportunity will be identified and categorized correctly within AWS GenAI initiatives.
3. Ensure the Solution Description in AWS Partner Central Mentions GenAI
Within your Solution listing in AWS Partner Central, ensure the solution description explicitly states that your offering is a Generative AI solution.
Maintaining this consistency between your solution listing and referral submission strengthens the signals AWS uses to identify GenAI opportunities.
Why This Matters
Since a dedicated GenAI field is not yet available, AWS currently relies on multiple contextual indicators to classify opportunities.
By aligning:
Structured signals (AWS Product selection)
Referral descriptions (explicit mention of GenAI)
Solution metadata in AWS Partner Central
partners help AWS accurately identify, categorize, and support GenAI-related co-sell opportunities.
Following these best practices ensures better visibility for your opportunities and helps AWS align them with ongoing Generative AI initiatives.
Create a Dedicated Mapping Template for GenAI Solutions (Recommended)
We recommend creating a dedicated mapping template for creating opportunities with GenAI solutions within the Labra Sync Configuration in your Labra account.
In this mapping template, you can predefine all the required elements, such as:
Tagging the appropriate solution
Selecting the relevant AWS Products
Setting a default Referral Description indicating that the opportunity involves GenAI
Once this template is configured, we recommend using this template whenever you create a GenAI opportunity.
This ensures that all required fields are automatically populated, reducing manual effort and ensuring that GenAI opportunities are consistently tagged and reported correctly to AWS.
