When you connect Slack to your Labra workspace, you enable real-time notifications and seamless collaboration between your teams and the Labra platform. To make this possible, Labra requests a set of permissions within your Slack workspace.
Below is a breakdown of the permissions Labra requests and what they allow us to do:

chat:write | Send messages as @Labra to users or channels it is a member of. |
chat:write.public | Send messages to public channels, even if @Labra hasn't been explicitly added to the channel. This helps ensure delivery of system-wide notifications without manual setup. |

channels:read | View basic information about public channels in your workspace. |

usergroups:read | View user groups configured in your workspace (e.g. teams or departments). |
users.profile:read | View profile information for users in your workspace (e.g. name, title, email). |
📒 Note: Some of these permissions appear twice on the list, but they refer to different scopes — general access vs. access to messages or channels Labra has been explicitly added to.
Why These Permissions Are Required
Labra uses these permissions to:
- Deliver timely alerts and notifications directly to Slack.
- Ensure your team is notified of key events even in channels Labra is not a member of.
- Tailor messages and alerts based on user groups or teams.
- Respect your Slack workspace structure while maintaining transparency and context.
We only access the minimum data necessary to support notification delivery. Labra does not read or store message content beyond what is required for alerts and updates initiated by our platform.
